　　Xiuwu, a county at the northwest of Henan Province, is among Zhengzhou, Xinxiang and Jiaozuo. As a city within the half-hour economic cycle of the city groups in central China, the county covers 678 square kilometers, with 3 towns, 5 townships and 223 administrative villages under its administration. In 2012, the 305,000-people county’s GDP was 9.88 billion yuan, up 9.5%; financial general revenue was 662.76 million yuan, rising 18%; sales of social consumable goods was 2.99 billion yuan, up 17.5%, fixed assets investment was 9.5 billion yuan, increasing 21.2%, average dispensable income of urban residents was 19,233 yuan, up 12%; average pure income of farmers was 9,675 yuan, growing 15%. 　　As a place with long history, Xiuwu has a lot of cultural heritages. Confucius learnt from Laozi here; Emperor Hanxian in the Han Dynasty once lived here; “Seven Distinguished Men of Bamboo Forest” lived in seclusion in this place; Sun Simiao, King of Medicine, practiced medicine in this place and Han Yu, a famous scholar, was born here. Cultural heritages here include: Dangyangyu Porcelain Kilns Heritage, which is under cultural protection at national level; Tower of Baijiayan Temple, which was built in the Jin Dynasty; Tower of Shengguo Temple, which was built in the Song Dynasty.

　　Xiuwu has beautiful sceneries and is advanced in tourism. Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area is renowned for its wonderful mountains, waters and valleys. This tourist area has been granted with one world-class title and eight national titles, including: World Geological Park, National AAAAA Scenic Area, National Natural Heritage and National Forest Park. 5.582 million people visited this tourist resort in 2012, bringing about a ticket income of 450 million yuan and a comprehensive income of 2.3 billion yuan.

　　Xiuwu is rich in resources and convenient in transportation. The county is a National Advanced County in Grain Production and Provincial Key County in Livestock Husbandry Development. There are 4 national large- and medium-size coal mines within the territory of the county; two “Century Projects”, namely, South-to-North Water Transmission Project and West-to-East Gas Transmission Project pass through the county. Xiuwu has advanced power-supply network. It is among Zhengzhou, Xinxiang and Jiaozuo, and is within the half-hour economic cycle of the city groups in central China. There are three existing and under-construction railways and expressways respectively in the county, which connect with major transportation lines like Jinggangao Expressway, Lianhuo Expressway and Erguang Expressway. After Zhengjiao Inter-city Railway is put into use the next year, it takes only 30 minutes to get to Xinzheng International Airport. Thus, under the background of the national strategy to develop Central China Economic Zone, Xiuwu has unique advantages in geographic location and transportation.

　　Xiuwu is marvelous in ecological and environmental conditions. With a forest coverage rate of 25.2%, the air quality of the county satisfies National Grade-1 Standard. In the urban area, there are 28 parks and green spaces, including Baiyintan Park, Qixian Park, Happiness Park and Ningcheng Park, with per-capita public green space, landscaping coverage rate, green space rate and popularity rate of road-greening reaching 10.4 square meters, 46%, 37.7% and 100%. The county is dotted with parks and green spaces, thus it has obtained the following honors: National Sanitary County Capital, National Garden-style County Capital, Most Beautiful Town in China and Livable Environment Exemplary Award of Henan Province.
